FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

CAN I DROP MY CHILD OFF AND LEAVE CO-OP?

No, JCHC is a co-op. We require one parent or adult family member (Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt, Uncle, ect.) to attend coop with your child/children. This person needs to be on site all day in case of emergency, but does not necessarily need to be in the rooms their children are in.

WHAT ARE MY RESPONSIBILITY AT CO-OP?

Usually parents help walk kids to different classes or are stationed in a class to assist the teacher (teachers are parent volunteers from within the co-op as is our entire board, nobody is payed to do the position they are doing). Parents are also required to help clean an area 1 time per semester (this happens after class are finished at noon and takes about 15-20 mins). Lastly parents are asked to join a committee (sunshine, photo, reception or fundraising) these committees usually take care of most things at co-op or over email.

WHAT ARE THE COMMITTEE POSITIONS?

We have 4 committees. Sunshine is our hospitality committee and is in charge of coffee and snack cart during the day on Friday, cards and gifts for members who have a loss or new baby, fun days during co-op, and teacher gifts at the end of the year. Photo committee is usually one or two people who collect photos taken throughout the year and make a slide show for the showcase. We ask all members to take photos to send in. Reception Committee is responsible for heading up sections of the showcase at the end of the year. Everyone is expected to help (if you are attending) with set up and clean up of the showcase, but reception committee will be leads within certain areas (things like food set up, chair and table set up, decorations, etc.).  Fundraising is exactly what it sound like. you will help come up with and execute on fundraising ideas for the co-op. This money is used to fund field trips and unforeseen expenses.

I WANT TO ATTEND, BUT CAN'T AFFORD IT, WHAT CAN I DO?

JCHC does offer scholarships for anyone needing assistance. Our scholarships are offered to any family who may have unforeseen circumstances that does not allow them to pay the full cost. We do ask that you pay whatever you are able and (with approval) we will cover the remainder. Please note, no family will be giving a scholarship more then 2 times.   We also offer payment plans that will split the coat into 4 payments over the year. To pay this way simple select payment plans at check out and you will only be charged the first payment. We accept online payments, checks, or cash.

HOW MUCH IS IT TO ATTEND?

Our registration fees will enroll your child for the entire year (both our fall and spring semester). Children 0-2 are $20, children 3-18 are $30. Each family will also be charged an operations fee which is $100 for the year. These costs go toward building costs, art supplies, music curriculum and gym equipment. If we have a surplus, we will plan additional fun outings. Occasionally there will be an additional fee to cover things like recorders in music class, but that will be noted in the registration paperwork and is usually minimal.

WHERE CAN I FIND UP TO DATE INFORMATION ON CO-OP?

Most information that is vital to co-op will be emailed out to the email you provide when registering. Additionally it will be shared on our parents page on Facebook. This page is JCHC Parent page. This page is also a place to set up playdates or ask questions you may have. You can not participate on this page unless you are an active part of the co-op. This is to protect the privacy of your members.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE SPRING SHOWCASE?

Our Spring Showcase/Reception is to show off what the kids have been working on all year. There is usually an art showcase, which shows many different pieces of art created by the students, and a musical or play. This can change depending on what the kids have done all year. This is on the Saturday after our last co-op Friday.

DO I HAVE TO REGISTER MY CHILD (NEWBORN) IF THEY WILL STAY WITH ME THE WHOLE TIME?

Yes, even if your child is a newborn you will need to register and pay for them. The cost is smaller for the younger kids because we realize they do not use as many resources, however their registration is required, so we can keep track of all the children in the building (in case of an emergency), to help with building costs, and to cover supply cost they may use as they get older during the semester.  Older children that may stay with you will be welcomed to participate in activities in the room you are helping in. Their registration will help cover the cost of supplies they may use.

FAQ: FAQ

WHAT IS JCHC'S COVID/MASK POLICY?

JCHC has relaxed precautions much like every where else in southern WI. Currently masks are at the family's discretion and not mandatory. We do ask that if you or any one in your family are experiencing any symptoms of illness, including symptoms of COVID, that you stay home until symptoms subside.

I WANT TO ATTEND, BUT CAN ONLY COME IN THE FALL. CAN I STILL ATTEND?

At JCHC we generally register for the entire year (both fall and spring), however, we will make special exeptions if you know in advance that you will not be able to attend one of the semesters. Please reach out to our registrar at jchc.registrar@gmail.com and they will be able to assist you.

I THINK MY CHILD MIGHT BE TO ADVANCED FOR THEIR ASSIGNED CLASS. CAN I REGISTER THEM FOR AN OLDER CLASS TO CHALLENGE THEM?

At JCHC we try to make all our classes age appropriate and challenging, however occasionally we do have kids that don't enjoy their class.  While we always allow children to register lower then their age appropriate class we do not allow kids to register above their age group.  We do this because we believe that social interactions with kids of the same age is just as important as what your child is taught in class. If you feel your child is not going to enjoy the class they are assigned, I would encourage you to wait to join JCHC until they are in a class more suited to them.
